I admit I had doubts about Katie Holmes being actually a theater actress.  Months before, when the buzz about her being a part of the classic, All My Sons, most were really skeptic and eyebrows raised so high.

But then, she proved the critics the critics quite wrong.  She actually did good.  Not bad for a first-time thespian.  Was there opening night and didn’t recognize her.  Though, Tom Cruise stole the show before it started.  The opening act was delayed for 10 minutes because people were just edging out of their seats just to see him.  Well, I was one of them but I didn’t looked out at him for that long.

In entirety, she played as an actor, not a Hollywood actress.  She seemed so mature, though she needs to magnify her voice more. But for a stage virgin, she did her part.

This post takes a break from all the so-serious-yet-nonsense-political issues.  But connecting politics to the theme of this post, seeing the candidates faces have become a bit annoying.  It’s like when one turns the tv on, there are just two issues being reported:  politics and celebrities.

I’m sticking to celebrities as making a mockery out of them is stress relieving.  They don’t have anything to do with the economy being in peril or the heinous crimes happening somewhere in this country.

So, here are  few celebrity faces that irk us whenever we see, we don’t know why, they just do.

1.  Sandra Oh

I know, she’s a great actress.  But her face always looks like she’s pissed off or something.

2.  Paris HIlton

She’s the socialite we hate not because she got tons of money (well, maybe that’s one reason to) but her face seems to look like plastic, literally.

3. Conan O’Brien

The big head just imprints itself to our memories and won’t get out.  Makes you skip sleeping for days.

4.  Michael Jackson

Wishing he would be just singing, he’s now become one of the singers that you wish to listen to but not watch perform live.

There.  Have to say it’s not their fault that they inherited those annoying genes.  But personality’s got to do something about it too.  What they feel inside radiates out.  And they radiate sour dispositions.

The “Lipstick on a pig” controversy quickly brought more attention to Sarah Palin.  But, Obama’s celebrity supporters readily went to the rescue. Matt Damon, Pam Anderson and yes, even Lindsay Lohan made bashes against Palin.  Although the last two’s lashes aren’t really significant.

This week, the news was all about Lehman Brothers’ closing down.  A big blow to this country, this issue brought.  Politics seemed to be inserting itself to the picture via Obama and McCain’s remarks.  So, we’re all back to the pundits and the campaign news stories.  But you can count on Ellen to make light of the annoyingly serious political issues.  She made this public service announcement before her show started, it was simple, yet funny.  But, I had to say, it’s a bit late.

The DNC was star-studded and was emotionally-heavy.  Bill Clinton was teary eyed during Hillary’s speech.  Jennifer Garner, Spike Lee, were among the celebrities that were shot by the cameras amidst the thousands of Democrats who attended the convention in Denver.  But just can’t help not to notice that Lady O’s absence.

She was considered as one of the main promoters of Obama during his campaign for the nomination, even showed up in a number of his rallies.  No one can doubt that her influence was one of the reasons why Obama was able to secure the nomination.

And so one can only wonder why wasn’t she snapped during the 4-day convention.  Rumors even spread that she even rented a house in Denver just for the conventions and yet not even a glimpse of her was seen.  Maybe she deliberately avoided the limelight so as not to draw attention to herself, after all, it was Obama’s moment.  She has done her part as a supporter and she contributed a lot, no question about that.  Again, just wondering if where was she during that historic moment.

I really love cars, even though I am a girl. This is actually is my motivation to find greater success in me. If I have tons of extra funds, I’d definitely buy myself the new 2008 Ford Mustang. Patriotic, huh?

I’ve been watched the Fast and The Furious trilogy and I think there will be a fourth one. Of course, the first one is the best for me. This is one of the greatest racing flick of all time and most of us watch, especially car lovers, because of the flashy looking cars. Here are 4 new automobiles that should be included in the next Fast and The Furious flick:

1. Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X

Fast and the Furious is about Japanese cars with a blend of American muscle cars. Never had I seen Porches and Ferrari’s used by the lead cast. But of course, the film has to have the modified version because this beauty has only a 2.0 engine -turbocharged!

2. Toyota Supra

I do not understand what is in that magazine but I see the words 350z. Nissan? That won’t be included in the list because the Nissan 350z was already seen in Tokyo Drift. This would remind you of the green turned orange Toyota Supra from the first film.

3. Nissan Skyline

This super power from Nissan definitely will remind us of 2 Fast 2 Furious. They can definitely race, drift, and amaze people with this one. This must appear!

4. Mazda RX9

If Vin Diesel will show up on the next one (I think he would), he should use this sleek Mazda RX9 because he reminds us of his quote after winning versus the green Supra. “It doesn’t matter whether you win an inch or a mile. Winning is winning!”

With all the celebrities we have right now, it would only be common that there are a lot of those celebrities who aren’t as admired as the most popular ones we have now. Popular ones are celebrities who we know of right away, the instant we hear theirname. They are the ones who makes a lot of noise, and who often make noise. But what about those hot underrated celebrities?, but who have the potential and sometimes,
even look much better than the already popular ones? Here are a few of examples I thought of (not in any order):

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/2066/laurajt1.jpg
5. Laura Ramsey
Laura Ramsey was discovered by her manager while waitressing in a Los Angeles restaurant. And since then, she’s done quite a lot of movies such as The Covenant and she’s The Man. I wouldn’t consider her as one of the really famous celebrities since her name isn’t something you would hear all the time. But she is a celebrity, and I consider her really pretty.

4. David Schwimmer
He’s got a face that is probably taller than my leg and it’s something strange with his eyes, but he’s got charm, and most of all he’s got talent and that has taken him far. After playing Ross in the famous TV-show Friends he is one of the most popular actors in the U.S. and he’s been nominated for an Emmy award for that role as well.

3. Nicky Hilton
Paris little sister didn’t have the luck to be born with the same amount of beauty as her older sister. She’s got some class but her nose and her mouth is keeping her away from being a beauty. She doesn’t have to worry too much about that though, she’s got a lot more money than most of us have and she seems to be popular as well.

2. Steven Strait
This actor has done a lot of movies including The Covenant, Sky High and 10,000 B.C and also lands the hottest of roles. But his name still isn’t quite as popular as someone like Josh Hartnett’s. Although this is the case, this celebrity is a talented and a really hot actor, and would one day become really popular.

1. Kip Pardue
Compared to others, this actor isn’t as popular because he has very little movies. And only a few of those became popular, such as Driven and Remember the Titans. Although I’ve only seen him in Driven, I really found him hot, and I actually think that he has the potential to become famous, and in my opinion, would also be good as a model.

Katie Holmes is set for her broadway debut in the play, All my sons. The play will not premiere till next fall but then one can’t help if she is fit for the part.  I was a never a fan even if she got married to Tom Cruise. But I have seen her on that movie where she played a student who brought down the downfall of a psyche ward, forgot the title already.  I sense she tends to underact a bit or maybe that was her signature.  But on broadway?  It brings a lot a of doubts.

Reports buzz that she is still in negotiations but if it all comes through, I just can’t imagine her on broadway.  She seems shy and soft-spoken.  She seemed to have mellowed more and retreated when she became a celebrity housewife and mother.  Well, she look more mature now and more stylish but that’s all she appears now.  Needless to say, I am now thrilled with her coming to broadway.  But, ok, will give her a chance.

I have a lot to say about what Sharon Stone said during a red carpet interview she had at this year’s Cannes festival. She basically said she the deadly earthquake that hit China two weeks ago was karma, a some kind of natural retribution to how the Chinese government are treating the Tibetans.

It is definitely inappropriate. I mean, what does she know about karma anyway? It is a complex belief and she definitely doesn’t have the spiritual background to connect the tragedy to how the government decides.

Ok, maybe the Chinese government may have been unfair to the Tibetans, but there innocent people who got killed, injured and left homeless after the 7.9 earthquake, but, one should not generalize on the tragedies. She should have just made it clearer. But then, even if she was just eyeing the government, there is a right time and place for a smart mouth.

We all dream of weddings where we can just be all dolled and groomed and cry for joy. But it is somewhat a different story if we go through it the second time around.

If you’re on the track where Elizabeth Taylor took, who married more than once, then there are just some things one must be very careful. And one of them is the songlist. You don’t want to offend your fiancee or yourself when the song that will be played on your first dance as a married couple is critical on how you want to start your lives together, or not going too deep, on your honeymoon night.

So, here are a couple of songs you might as well avoid just to not offend anyone.

1. Another one bites the dust by Queen

Oh yes, this is one of the eternal favorites that should not be played. The title says it all, it’s like there’s an air of regret and the last thing you want to show on your wedding day is regret.

2. Oops, I did it again by Britney Spears

Ok, I know, NO ONE would play this as first, it’s too upbeat and second, Britney sang it. But again, to those who still don’t know what happened to Britney did, or how this song goes or sounds, then, get cable.

3. Friends in low places by Garth Brook

You’re sending a message that you are not worth the time and love. It’s like all you’ll do is sulk around in depression.

4. Feels like the first time by Foreigner

Why is this off? Well, it’s your second time to get married so it’s not your first time anymore. But, it all depends on how your first wedding came about, but then again, just to be on the safe side, avoid this track.

5. First cut is the deepest by Sheryl Crow

This like telling your new partner that you can’t and will not be able to get over your ex as the first pain the deepest.

6. You’ve lost that lovin’ feeling by The Righteous Brothers

With this song, you just admitted that after the first marriage, you’ve lost the effort to love.

7. You’re my first, my last, my everything by Barry White

This is a romantic song, but then, technically, your new spouse isn’t your first.

The ultimate not-to-play song on your second wedding is the same song that was played on your first. You may have different opinions and you may actually get away with these songs. What’s important is that you have another shot at happiness.

I just want to share how happy I am for Ellen.  I believe that the love between two people should be ackowledged regardless of sexual inclinations.

I just ask myself, why is it Ellen Degeneres is far more endearing that Rosie O’ Donnel.  If Rosie made that announcement I’d probalbly just say,”ok ok.. next…”
