What a week it has been.

First, I moved to a new domain and it was fun yet required a lot of work. Then, I was the one who only went to work for the past 3 days so I had to do everything, even the assignments that were assigned to those who were suddenly absent because of the weather.

I wish I can be on leave because I’m feeling under the weather.  Bummer.

FInally, Sex and the City has made its premiere in new York City and I was one of those who tirelessly waited for them on the pink carpet.  But hey, I was not one of the screaming fans. I was there to actually watch.

And don’t worry, I am not going to put any spoilers here.  Besides,  the air of mystery has almost died down as numerous behind the scene footages ans interviews have almost spelled out the whole plot.  I say that if I wasn’t a true cinematic fan, spoilers might have great, but as I am one, I felt disappointed. The not-knowing part is where the movie-watching thrill is at its climax and with all the marketing and promotion that spilled the juicy parts, it became more predictable and somewhat unexciting to watch.

But it’s back home in New York where the all the sex and the seemingly out-there outfits which has become the fashion trend began.

Katie Holmes is set for her broadway debut in the play, All my sons. The play will not premiere till next fall but then one can’t help if she is fit for the part.  I was a never a fan even if she got married to Tom Cruise. But I have seen her on that movie where she played a student who brought down the downfall of a psyche ward, forgot the title already.  I sense she tends to underact a bit or maybe that was her signature.  But on broadway?  It brings a lot a of doubts.

Reports buzz that she is still in negotiations but if it all comes through, I just can’t imagine her on broadway.  She seems shy and soft-spoken.  She seemed to have mellowed more and retreated when she became a celebrity housewife and mother.  Well, she look more mature now and more stylish but that’s all she appears now.  Needless to say, I am now thrilled with her coming to broadway.  But, ok, will give her a chance.

The death of Sydney Pollack is a big loss to the movie industry.  His films were provocative yet in a good way and he isn’t that bad as an actor.

What I admired about him was his modesty and simplicity.  He led  simple and quiet life, he chose the movies that he directed and starred in and he was very humble.  I saw an interview he had with Entertainment tonight and he said he still isn’t used to receiving awards.  He was an Oscar winner and yet you can’t sense any air of stardom. His kind face is a proof of that.

Here is a list of his credentials courtesy of IMBD.com:

Now, Iceland is the latest country to suffer the wrath of earthquakes.  It was hit by a 6.2 magnitude just today and it is saddening to know how many were injured or have died because of it.

We are now on the verge of continuous natural calamities and more and more innocent children who did not know anything about the global warming or any acts that would exacerbate the natural calamities. When will these ever end? Or will they ever do.

There are tons of movies which we just can’t get enough and would like to watch all over again, me being one of those, so being a movie buff, I have decided to list some movies which deserve to have part two’s or sequels or whatever you might want to call it.

Folks at IBeatYou.com featured a competition on the movies that should have remakes and so here they are:

1. The hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy
This was a radio series in the late 70’s and was then adapted to a novel and then to the movies. This is a geek’s movie favorite and the special effects were just appropriate and wasn’t overdone. The story isn’t like what your typical extra-terrestrial movie.
2. Superbad
This is a wittingly funny movie written by Seth Rogen with Evan Goldberg which was a good 10 years in black and white before it was finally filmed. Why a remake, well, we need more Judd Apatow productions.
3. Forrest Gump
We need more wisdoms from this modest and loving guy. He may not be wise, but then, he always seem to be at the right place at the right time to draw life lessons. And hey. it’s one of the few movies where the lead actor isn’t drop dead gorgeous but you’ll fall in love with more. And it’s an Oscar winner.
4. Wedding crashers
This is just so hilarious and I for one, would like to know if they will still gatecrash even if they have seemingly gotten settled.

I have a lot to say about what Sharon Stone said during a red carpet interview she had at this year’s Cannes festival. She basically said she the deadly earthquake that hit China two weeks ago was karma, a some kind of natural retribution to how the Chinese government are treating the Tibetans.

It is definitely inappropriate. I mean, what does she know about karma anyway? It is a complex belief and she definitely doesn’t have the spiritual background to connect the tragedy to how the government decides.

Ok, maybe the Chinese government may have been unfair to the Tibetans, but there innocent people who got killed, injured and left homeless after the 7.9 earthquake, but, one should not generalize on the tragedies. She should have just made it clearer. But then, even if she was just eyeing the government, there is a right time and place for a smart mouth.

We all dream of weddings where we can just be all dolled and groomed and cry for joy. But it is somewhat a different story if we go through it the second time around.

If you’re on the track where Elizabeth Taylor took, who married more than once, then there are just some things one must be very careful. And one of them is the songlist. You don’t want to offend your fiancee or yourself when the song that will be played on your first dance as a married couple is critical on how you want to start your lives together, or not going too deep, on your honeymoon night.

So, here are a couple of songs you might as well avoid just to not offend anyone.

1. Another one bites the dust by Queen

Oh yes, this is one of the eternal favorites that should not be played. The title says it all, it’s like there’s an air of regret and the last thing you want to show on your wedding day is regret.

2. Oops, I did it again by Britney Spears

Ok, I know, NO ONE would play this as first, it’s too upbeat and second, Britney sang it. But again, to those who still don’t know what happened to Britney did, or how this song goes or sounds, then, get cable.

3. Friends in low places by Garth Brook

You’re sending a message that you are not worth the time and love. It’s like all you’ll do is sulk around in depression.

4. Feels like the first time by Foreigner

Why is this off? Well, it’s your second time to get married so it’s not your first time anymore. But, it all depends on how your first wedding came about, but then again, just to be on the safe side, avoid this track.

5. First cut is the deepest by Sheryl Crow

This like telling your new partner that you can’t and will not be able to get over your ex as the first pain the deepest.

6. You’ve lost that lovin’ feeling by The Righteous Brothers

With this song, you just admitted that after the first marriage, you’ve lost the effort to love.

7. You’re my first, my last, my everything by Barry White

This is a romantic song, but then, technically, your new spouse isn’t your first.

The ultimate not-to-play song on your second wedding is the same song that was played on your first. You may have different opinions and you may actually get away with these songs. What’s important is that you have another shot at happiness.

It’s great to be in a new place! Got this new domain just last week and I feel more free right now. I may have to make a few changes in the design but then, this is just exciting.

Rest assured that the same fiery thoughts will be in this site and may be a little more angst, but still with more sense. So, enjoy!

I just want to share how happy I am for Ellen.  I believe that the love between two people should be ackowledged regardless of sexual inclinations.

I just ask myself, why is it Ellen Degeneres is far more endearing that Rosie O’ Donnel.  If Rosie made that announcement I’d probalbly just say,”ok ok.. next…”
